Let's Have a Countdown to love... Ten dozen red roses all for you Nine heartbeats as we lay together in the sheets Eight? Not Yet But I got an appetite for us Seven long nights of us, not gonna make me week Six scented candles light up the room, while neither of us speak. Five fingers attached to four hands, gives us a 20/20 chance as we're making our advance. And now, We're letting our touch make all the plans Three seconds until two start to begin One kiss of lust, that'll last us until the end Now I'm ready to countdown to love, again.
The phone vibrates and the motion wakes me. The ringtone sounds beat against my eardrum relentlessly. Who is this calling me? I think to myself, is this a dream?
Should I answer this call, or continue sleeping peacefully? So I selfishly send this call to voice mail, so I can get more sleep. When I awake I will tend to my answer machine, maybe.
The phone of life begins to ring again, more urgently. The rings are urging me to take action and to take things more seriously. The world is a changing place, and needs maturity to help keep it steady.
Am I ready, willing and able to take this call and this responsibility? I hope so. I don't know how much longer I can stand the ringtone's beep, of war, hunger, hate, discrimination, suffering and poverty.
I stare at the receiver as it demands humility and commitment from me I fear the duty, but I also fear the resentment the world will have towards thee If I don't wake up and answer that call and give the world what it needs...
I feature a lot of R&B, Pop and Soul music on my blog because those are my favorite genres, but I am also a fan of Hip-Hop... Here is a playlist of my fave hip-hop classics... Enjoy
'The Message' - Grandmaster Flash - A song chalk full of stories from the inner-city. Grandmaster Flash gives u the message in his rap classic with smooth rhymes and catchy beat. "Don't push me cuz I'm close to the edge..."
'Today was a Good Day' - Ice Cube - The perfect chill song, this is the kind of song you can/need to listen to on the daily. "Two in the morning got the fat burger...... I got to say, Today it was a good day"
'Changes' - Tupac - I remember loving this song when it came out... Changes by lyricist Tupac Shakur what else needs to be said? "I see no changes, all I see is racist faces... It's time for us as a people to make some changes, lets change the way we eat, live and treat each other"
'Lost Ones' - Lauryn Hill - The songstress and MC Lauryn Hill is on a short list of women who can sing and rap. Her LP The Miseducation, is forever one of my favorite albums of all time. "Some want to play young Lauryn like she dumb, but remember not a game new under the sun. Everything you did has already been done..... You might win some but you just lost one"
More...'Rule' - Nas - Sampling the Tears for Fears song 'Everybody Wants to Rule the World' Nas speaks on World peace and tolerance for all cultures and religions, in his song 'Rule'. "The earth wasn't made for one man to rule alone. To all colors increases, to home it belongs. I want land, mansions, banks and gold, The diamonds in Africa, oil in my control. The world's natural resources, all its residuals..... Everybody wants to rule the world" 'Leaning on You' - Geto Boys - Scarface, Willie D and Bushwick Bill make up the Geto Boys, a group from Texas... I remember when this album[The Foundation] came out in '05, I played it to death lol. "I'm wiser now, and I seen the world.... and if you feel some extra weight on ya... thats me I'm leaning on ya" -I also recomend: I Tried
'Champion' - Kanye West - One of my favorite joints from the Graduation LP... I think this cd was the first cd I blasted in my first car..... MEMORIES. "Lauryn Hill said her heart was in Zion, I wish her heart was still in Rhyming. Cause Who The Kids Gon' Listen To? I Guess Me If It Isn't You..." I also recomend: Everything I Am
'I Am' - Novel - Novel is a very talented writer, producer, singer and rapper... I featured him on another one of my lists... This song is very inspiring and speaks truth. "Eternal to the light, I'm a product of the ghetto, my father's boy, A brother to my sister, my mother's pride and joy...I am"
'Just Another Day' - Queen Latifah - She's not the queen for no reason... Another singer/rapper combo for the females, Latifah brings us that classic story telling over smooth beats hip-hop. "I'm wit whateva comes my way, hip-hop hooray. Latifah's on vacation, I'm just plain ol Dana today. I strap out, step out in every direction, Glock, tech's, jimmy hat's, in case I need protection..." I also recommend: Unity
'Why' - Jadakiss - "Why did bush knock down the towers... Why Halle have to let a white man pop her to get an Oscar? Why Denzel have to be crooked before he took it? Why they didn't make the CL6 wit a clutch?"
What are some of your favorite Hip Hop Songs? Lets Discuss...
Wishing is what you do when all your faith is gone / You never wish when things are good / You wish when things get worse / Wishing for things to get better / Is what we tend to do when things begin to shatter / To me wishing is just a half ass prayer / A substitute for praise, used by the sinner, non believers and nay-sayers / Wishing happens after the fact / Most times its too late / It happens long after the praying should have met the faith / So lets stop wishing upon a star / And start believing in our hearts / Because thats what will get us afar

Finally moved-out, and getting ready for my finals this upcoming week... This weekend was fun and tiring all at once! Here is a little inspirational music from Yolanda Adams. "Be Blessed" is what I want all my followers to be.... Enjoy your upcoming week..... LOVE!!!
Too many storms have passed your way And you're all washed out cause it rained on your parade Seems nobody cares about you anyway Now you're living your life like a castaway Searched for strength inside was it all in vain Cause the deeper you dig you find more and more pain Don't let your tomorrow be like yesterday Cause I spoke to God, I called out your name And on your behalf, I just asked if He would be there for you I want you to
My prayer for you today, Is that you trust and always obey Be blessed from the bottom of your feet to the crown of your head Your life be blessed Your family be blessed Your finances be blessed Everything about you
