A History of Love

I built you up like an Egyptian Pyramid,
and worshiped you as if you were Zeus - and I were Greek |

But you only came to tear me down like the Romans,
and that you did - defeating me in the Coliseum... - of love |

I was like a West African slave, bound by your words -
and promises! Stripped of my happiness. Captive in your game |

Or Caught in between two rivers; Love & Loyalty- Call me Mesopotamia
I drowned in Pain, for I could no longer count on you to float |

I loved you more than Western Europe loved conquering,
But conquering your heart was never meant to be, especially not for me |

I suppose we were like the Soviet Union never meant to last -
and I like the Native Americans, not prepared for the fight - seceded. finally |

We are no more,
Just a History of Love
and War-
Like the World|

&

Like the World
I have learned my history
and my lesson
and the Lesson of History;
NEVER REPEAT IT |
