[Music] Motion City Soundtrack - Always Running Out Of Time

"I won't tell you how to live your life...
so please stay far away from mine
Always watching out for which and whethers
Always running out of time"

Today's music selection comes from the Almost Alice soundtrack, which is a stellar compilation to accompany the movie (more selections from Almost Alice at the end of this post). "Always Running Out Of Time" is one of my favorite songs from the soundtrack, Motion City Soundtrack delivers a mid-uptempo rock/pop standard, with a folksy undertone. The song's lyrics (themed from the Alice In Wonderland movie) mellow over the steady drums and catchy folk-pop rhythm, where the lead singer does a great job of delivering the song's message. It is definitely a great addition to your "On-The-Go" playlist. =)

[Inspiration] Dynamic Individual

Why do we spend our lives trying to find these people that complete us? These people that are supposed to complete our sentences and be in our thoughts constantly? The ones that are there to change and perpetuate our love. Why are we even taught about them? They cause an endless spectrum of disappointment, what happens if you never find them? Are you therefore incomplete? What if you do, and are dissatisfied? Does that mean you don't know yourself? Soulmates... what are they? We talk about them, but how are they defined?

Why shouldn't we be the person we have a strong affinity towards?

In essence, YOU should be the dynamic individual you seek, you should be the change and progress you want in love, and life... and let people accessorize that, not complete it.

In Vain

Trying to fix you
I broke myself
Thought I was helping enrich you
but I was only losing my wealth
Was finally gaining control
Only to find out I had lost it all
Hoping that my good intentions
Would break the inevitable fall

And all I ever wanted to do
was to save you from the pain
but instead we got caught in this losing game
And now we don't know whose to blame
Maybe we'll learn to get along, alone
or maybe we can continue to love in vain.

This week for #musicmonday I bring you my favorite Erykah Badu & Jill Scott songs. Both of these talented ladies brought [and still bring] fresh philosophical lyrics and soothing vocals to the soul genre. Listen closely because they both have a lot to say about love, life, religion and the world. Open your ears and open your mind...

Tyrone (Live) - self-respect, relationships
Back In The Day - urban philosophy, life, reminiscing
...And On - self-love, self-respect, urban philosophy, ego
Vibrate On - self-respect, self-love, peace, relaxation
"But I'm long gone, at home with the vibrate on...my phone.
'Cause I rather be left alone...all night long." - E.B. "Vibrate On"

J. Scott:
My Love - love, relationships, moving on,
Golden - life, philosophy, self-love, religion, self-respect, expression
A Long Walk - expression, love, urban philosophy, philosophy, religion
Gimme - love, sex, sensuality
The Fact Is (I Need You) - love, self-love, wanting, urban philosophy
He Loves Me - love, philosophy, sensuality, relationships
The Real Thing - urban philosophy, ego, self-love, self-respect
"I'm the real thing in stereo... come follow this melodic flow, I can make you shine, I can make you glow" - J.S. "The Real Thing"
Epiphany - urban philosophy, love, sensuality, sex
The Way - love, sensuality, relationships
Hate On Me - urban philosophy, self-love, dignity, free expression
Wanna Be Loved - love, desire, self-love, relationships
Come See Me - love, desire, passion, sensuality, relationships
It's Love - love, passion, sensuality

Know that this is no way a complete compilation of their greatest works (thats an oximoron because all their work is great), just a few of my favorite jams. If you're not a fan of these ladies, then become one, and support their music!

Untitled Poem

Groovin' to the music, being careful not to abuse it
Trying to get high off the vibe, Don't call the doctor....

I'd rather die. from a choke on your lyrical dope

Melodies drowning out the blood in my veins, I'm a lost cause still dancing in vain, in the rain
Another hit won't stop the pain, another dose of  your notes won't undo the change...
